Victory Baptist Church was formed out of a desire for a relevant and Bible-Centered Ministry for married couples. It began in September 2003 as a Bible Class for Marred Couples that assembled on the third Sunday of each month. The meeting were held in the home of Clayton and Kimberly Harris. Pastor Rory Tate and his wife Nicole served as officiators. Pastor Tate used the Bible in his teaching of "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. In an effort to help strengthen and encourage married couples on every level, participants would invite family and friends to take part in the Bible Study. It was at that time that we, the founders, began to earnestly pray concerning our vision to start a church in our community. The Lord answered our prayer.
Clayton Harris, Kimberly Harris, Harvey Vawters and Thelma Vawters launched Victory Baptist Church on March 7, 2004. The purpose to proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, win the lost to a saving knowledge of Christ, teach the saved the sacred scriptures, help the believer conform to the image of Christ, and seek to have a spiritual impact on the married, single, young and old alike.
Since its beginning, God has blessed Victory with many committed and faithful members who have worked tirelessly to further the Kingdom of God through this ministry. In May of 2008, Victory began worshipping in Northfield, Ohio sharing a beautiful facility with Northfield Presbyterian Church. Victory Baptist Church was blessed to have Rory Tate and Dr. Tony Minor serve as Pastor.
In 2014 Dr. Eddie Hawkins served as Interim Pastor until the spring of 2015 when he assisted in the installation of Pastor Lavelle Gibson to continue to lead the ministry.
Victory Baptist Church operates under the firm belief that prayer, spending time in the Word of God and applying biblical beliefs and practices will result in a victorious life.
