Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper Jesus had with his disciples before he was arrested and crucified (Matthew 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22: 13-20). It is celebrated in the Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant churches. It includes the sacrament of Holy Communion to commemorate the Last Supper. It may also include foot-washing.

Good Friday commemorates the day that Jesus was crucified. Following Jesus’ arrest, he was found guilty of proclaiming himself to be the King of Jews. He was sentenced to crucifixion. This day is celebrated a number of ways. These include taking down the cross in the Orthodox faith to recounting the story of Jesus’ last days, which is called the Passion of Christ.

Tax Day (Taxes Due) History

Tax Day marks the last day to file income taxes in the United States. The history of US Income Tax dates back to the Civil War and the Revenue Act of 1861. This tax was imposed to help pay the costs of the war. After several repeals, new taxes, and subsequent repeals, the 16th Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified and signed into law in 1913. This established the right of Congress to impose a Federal Income tax.

These crises negatively affect our planet’s resources, and they pose serious risk to our long-term lifestyles and health

Arbor Day History

Arbor Day is a celebration of trees and their importance to providing shelter, stabilization for the ground, and beauty to the beholder. This day encourages planting trees to help protect the Earth. While Arbor Day is a US holiday, several other countries have adopted similar observances including Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Yugoslavia.
